MetaMask is a self-custody wallet available as a browser extension and a mobile app. It connects to Ethereum and other EVM networks and is the wallet many dApps test against first.
MetaMask adds its own service fee on top of network gas for swaps made inside the wallet. If you swap often, compare that fee with the wallet you are moving to, or swap directly on a DEX.
MetaMask is built around Ethereum-style networks. If you also hold Solana or Bitcoin, a multichain wallet means one app instead of several.
Raw approval requests are a common way wallets get drained. Wallets with transaction simulation show what will leave your balance before you sign.
