How we rank asset tokenization platforms

  1. 01Who can invest: investor eligibility and US restrictions from each issuer's own pages. Products open to more US investors rank higher.
  2. 02Regulation: registrations and oversight the company states itself, such as FINRA, SEC, NYDFS or OCC.
  3. 03Fees and minimums: published management fees and minimum investments.
  4. 04Chains: networks the tokens run on.
  5. 05Audits: smart contract audits listed by the project.

How to choose

Check eligibility first

Many tokenized funds are private funds for accredited investors or qualified purchasers. Ondo's common OUSG bar is $5M+ net worth for individuals.

Know what the token represents

A fund share, a note, or a claim on gold can look alike onchain. Read the offering documents for who holds the asset and how redemptions work.

Compare fees in the same terms

USTB's fee is 0.15% or less a year on assets; OUSG's 0.15% is waived until January 1, 2027, with fund expenses capped at 0.15%.

Transfers may be restricted

Permissioned tokens can only move between approved wallets, so you may not be able to sell them on a DEX.

Who should skip all of these

  • US retail investors wanting USDY or Ondo Stocks: Ondo bars US persons from those products.
  • Anyone expecting crypto-style trading: many tokenized funds redeem only through the issuer.
  • Investors who need deposit insurance: tokenized funds are not bank deposits.

Which one fits you?

Bottom line

US investors should start with Securitize or, if accredited, Superstate. Issuers should look at Centrifuge.

Check each product's eligibility page before anything else: several popular tokenized products are closed to US persons.
